The playwrights of tomorrow!
Over the last few weeks, our Primary 6 and 7 children have been learning all about The Great Famine in Ireland. This week, we have been looking at absentee landlords and eviction, and how it was just another devastating effect that the Famine had on Ireland during that time.
The children have been working in their small table groups to discuss, plan and write a play-script based on an eviction scene. They studied a piece of artwork called 'The Ejectment' by Maggie Land Blanck, which shows the heart-wrenching portrayal of landlords evicting tenants from their houses during the Famine.
The children have been including production ideas and stage directions to highlight the feelings and emotions conveyed. We can't wait to continue writing and we can't wait to act it out for our class!
