Primary 1/2/3 carried out an experiment today investigating whether a range of different materials and objects would float or sink in water!
We discussed last week materials that are used to enable boats to float on water. We then compiled a list of things that we thought would either sink or float on water.
Today we tested out our predictions, gathered our objects and headed outside to see whether we were right or wrong! Before we tried each object, we voted as a class whether or not that would float at the top of the water or sink to the bottom! We then dicscussed why certain things may have sunk e.g the material they were made from or their shape!
We really enjoyed completing today’s experiment!! 🧪
