Our visit to see Takabuti the Mummy...
What an amazing day our P5-7 children had at the Ulster Museum, Belfast, to see their Ancient Egyptian exhibition and none other than Takabuti, the real life Egyptian mummy that is in preservation in the museum.
First we learned a little bit of background about Ancient Egypt and we were able to piece together the work we have done in school to some of the information our tour guide was telling us - they did Mrs Symington and Miss Rafferty extremely proud with their level of knowledge and expertise. They got to handle some real life artefacts, including canopic jars that were over 2000 years old as well as old Egyptian jewellery and accessories. It was fantastic!
We then got to explore the Ancient Egyptian exhibition to our hearts' content - the children were amazed to be so up close and personal to Takabuti and see exactly how the mummification process worked first hand. A wonderful day was had by all - it was such a fantastic experience for our boys and girls.
