Christmas Through The Ages
Well, what a magical day the P3-7 children had today at Palace Stables, Armagh, for 'Christmas Through the Ages'.
We met Paul, Margaret and Sylvia who took us on a whistlestop tour of what Christmas was like during different eras and periods of time. We met Donald, a WWII soldier who talked about Christmas during the war and what they did to try and celebrate during difficult times. We also met Mrs Smith, a Georgian cook, who invited us into her kitchen to see exactly how she prepared for Christmas at the palace; some of our pupils even gave Paul Hollywood and Mary Berry a good run for their money as they tried their hand at making mince pies!
Finally we got to meet the big man himself, Santa! He talked us through Christmas during the Victorian era and how they celebrated, too. We also got to make wonderful Christmas crafts and a sing a Christmas song or two with Paul and his guitar.
We are definitely in the Christmas spirit after today! Thank you to all involved; our children and staff had a fantastic day of fun, laughter and learning.
