Our P6/7 children have been working extremely hard on their skills with using money. Our P6 children are working on using money within and beyond £100 and our P7 children are introducing the idea of budgeting, profits and value for money.
Our Primary 6s were very busy planning their dream holiday, picking their dream destination and the activities to go with it. They were given an open budget to practise their adding/subtracting skills, but then Mrs Symington challenged them to plan a holiday with a set budget. They had to decide then which price was best and they did a fantastic job, with 5* holidays to Spain and city breaks to Germany being planned to perfection!
Our Primary 7 children were tasked to plan a camping or glamping holiday, with a set budget of £800. They had to decide their food budget and activities and work out the best value for money. They used their knowledge of fractions and percentages to find out amounts to add to their holiday.
The children had so much fun planning their holidays and it opened up lots of discussion about using money practically! A great, life-long skills to have! Well done boys and girls.
